Discover The Sweet Joys Of Liqueur Cakes

There are few things that are more popular than cakes, or cocktails. What if you could combine the two? With liqueur cakes, you can do just this. When liqueur cakes are made, a type of liqueur is mixed into the batter before the cake is baked. After the cake is baked, the alcohol has been cooked off, but the distinctive flavor of whatever type of liqueur used remains. Since the alcohol has been cooked off, this is an excellent dessert to share with the family or for anyone who cannot drink alcohol.

Liqueur Cakes Offer Many Exciting Possibilities

Liqueur cakes come in a wide range of interesting and unique flavors. Since there are so many types of liqueur, there are a lot of possibilities for creating delectable and diverse liqueur cakes. Some liqueur cakes have the featured liqueur as the main flavor, such as Irish crème and amaretto. Other cakes, however, combine the flavor of the liqueur with other ingredients for a complex, rich result. Some of these cakes include lemon drop cake, chocolate rum and strawberry daiquiri.

How to Serve Liqueur Cakes

Liqueur cakes taste great on their own. A slice or two of this cake makes an easy and satisfying afternoon snack or light dessert. Liqueur cakes are great treat to bring to an event such as a holiday party. However, liqueur cakes can also be served in a wide variety of delicious ways. Depending on what type of cake you get, there are several unique ways you can create a next-level dessert. Try topping the slices with whipped cream and fresh berries, or warm the cake up and top it with ice cream. Cut the slices into cubes and use them to make a trifle for a chocolate fondue party.

Enjoy Your Favorite Holiday Tradition with A No-Sugar Fruit Cake

The holidays season can be a difficult time of year for anyone who cannot eat sugar. There are so many meaningful and fun activities to do, but the truth is, many favorite traditions involve preparing and/or eating special foods that are only eaten around the months of November and December. Fortunately, today, there are a lot better options, in terms of both quantity and quality, for people who either cannot consume sugar or choose not to for health reasons. One of the most satisfying and delicious things you can get, either for yourself or a loved one, this holiday season is a fruit cake with no sugar.

Why Get a No Sugar Added Fruit Cake?

The fruit cake is one of the most famous holiday desserts, and it is also one of the oldest. It is a dense, rich cake studded with fruit and nuts. Over time, though, (not to mention with the invention of candied fruit-making) it has evolved to become one of the notoriously sugary and dense desserts on the planet. This does not mean that you have to give up fruit cake altogether, though. If you are fond of this dessert and will miss it this holiday season, or are in the mood for it right now, then you can order a fruitcake that has no sugar added.

What to Expect from a Fruit Cake

A fruit cake has all the texture and appeal of a regular fruitcake, but with no sugar added. It contains dried fruits and nuts in a buttery, moist cake. Glace cherries and pineapples are baked in, as well, but they have been prepared without any added sugar. Altogether, this fruitcake only contains 1 gram of sugar per serving, and this is just natural sugar.

A Gourmet Twist on An Old Classic - Holiday Fruit Cakes

For most cultures throughout history, a big part of a holiday or festival celebration was the preparation and consumption of special foods that were usually not eaten on any other day of the year. Today, people have many traditional holiday foods that have been around for centuries and perhaps the most well-known of these are holiday fruit cakes.

Negative Connotations that Come with Holiday Fruit Cakes

Most people love to hate fruit cakes. They are a traditional food that has been a beloved staple of holiday celebrations for over hundreds of years. The reason many people dislike fruitcake is usually because they have never had a good one that is filled with wholesome ingredients. Commercial fruitcakes are often overly sweet, or bitter & chewy from addition of orange peel and citron.

What Makes for a GOOD Fruitcake?

If you want a fruitcake that tastes delicious and is reminiscent of Christmas feasting long ago, then you need to get it from a bakery that understands this dessert and how to prepare it properly.

A fruitcake should be made with only rich wholesome ingredients starting with only the finest fruits and nuts. Some fruitcakes add alcohol, which a really good cake baker knows how to add a combination of bourbon, rum and brandy to the batter, so as it bakes only the essence of those alcohols remain to add just the right taste factor. Then the cakes are allowed to mellow to fruitcake perfection. Which you will find with the Grandma’s Fruit & Nut Cake made by Beatrice Bakery Co.

Tis the Season for Holiday Fruit Cakes

With the start of the holiday season just around the corner, it’s never too early to start preparing. Luckily, Beatrice Bakery can help you check one thing off your list—fruit cakes! We don’t produce plain, bitter fruit cakes… instead, we use the freshest ingredients to bake quality, handmade fruit & nut cakes. Our staff believes that every moment in life should be enjoyed with something delicious. Nothing says ‘holiday tradition’ better than our famous Grandma’s fruit cake brand. Each cake is made with the just the right amount of rum, bourbon, and brandy along with ripe cherries, succulent pineapples, plump raisins, plus almonds, walnuts, and pecans - then baked to perfection.

A Slice of History

Where did we come up with idea to bake such delectable holiday fruit cakes? It all started 100 years ago, with two German immigrants known as the Lantz Brothers. While operating a bakery in St. Louis, MO, the brothers came across their grandma’s favorite fruitcake recipe. She remarked: “Use only the freshest ingredients!” Through their grandma’s secret baking process, the world’s finest fruitcake was born!

The next step for the Lantz Brothers was to find a manufacturing company that could produce large quantities of their delicious fruit cakes. They visited a town called Beatrice, NE that was nestled right in America’s heartland and found the perfect facility—Wilke Baking Company. Once the brothers were confident that their grandma’s recipe was in the right hands, they decided to sell the recipe rights.

Several successful years passed. Between 1974 and 2001 several different companies bought the bakery and the name was changed to Grandma’s Bake Shoppe. Then, in 2001 the last corporation ownership announced plans to close the business. Fortunately, the company had such a powerful impact on the area that a group of local investors and community members formed a corporation of their own. On April 22, 2002 Grandma’s Bake Shoppe officially became Beatrice Bakery Company.

Today, we still bake with the original recipe. Not only do we have a line of holiday fruit cakes, but we also hand produce a line of artisan cakes and desserts that are the perfect addition to any holiday gathering year-round.
