The International Fruitcake Eating Championship is an annual event held in Santa Claus, Indiana. Competitors go head-to-head to finish a one-pound Grandma's Fruit & Nut cake in the fastest time.
Sponsored by Beatrice Bakery Co, home of Grandma’s Original Fruit & Nut Cake, a holiday favorite since 1917, and hosted by Santa’s Candy Castle, which became the nation’s first themed attraction upon its dedication in December 1935.
Competitors in 2012 said it was the best fruit cake ever! 2013 Challengers are gearing up! Mick Foley, three-time WWE Champion and inductee into WWE Hall of Fame, announced his participation. Foley, a New York Times #1 Bestselling author, will take a break from his worldwide comedy tour to compete. He will face extremely tough competition - 2012 winner, “Jammin’ Joe” Rue from Binghamton, NY, who currently holds three world records in competitive eating recognized by All Pro Eating and the IFOCE. Plus 2012 Runner-up James Atkinson of Louisville, KY and third-place finisher Rick “The Manager” Russo of Royersford, PA, also with extensive competitive eating experience.
