Blueberries have been gaining in popularity for not only being rich in antioxidants, that are essential to optimizing health, but also because it is a nutrition powerhouse, a superfood.
As far as U.S. fruit consumption, blueberries rank second to strawberries in berry popularity. The little blue berry is relatively low in vitamin C content when compared with other fruit. But scientists have discovered that the blueberry is loaded with phytonutrients and can improve nighttime vision, promote quicker adjustment to darkness and promote faster restoration of visual clarity after exposure to glare. According to the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging, laboratory studies show a diet including blueberries may improve motor skills and reverse the short-term memory loss that comes with aging. So give the blueberry a try!
